The electro-synthetic life form known only as Carlos Alfonzo has been wrecking shop with his distinct, funky, but pumpin beats all over the bay area since 1996. Known to drop abstract knowledge to the underground in a seemingly unlimited variety of genres, he is probably best known for his mind warping sets. His unique style blends a sundry of sounds, which he utilizes to paint a surreal atmosphere. one-thing stands the same, when he plays, he plays funky. Carlos Alfonzo was first inspired, while attending the underground san francisco parties in the early 1990's. A rave called Sharon was the first party to ignite his fascination with the affects a dj had on a crowd. After experiencing the unforgettable performances, it was these skill sets, which inspired him to get his first pair of turntables in 1996. His earliest influences ranged from DJ Dan to Carlos, Jeno to Doc Martin, Donald Glaude to Julius Papp. Later his influences would also include Erick Morillo, Antione Clamaran and Mauro Piccotto. Over the next 6 years Carlos Alfonzo would diligently put in work to master a style, which was his alone. You always know when Carlos is playing! In 1999 Carlos met Shawn Hatfield (aka Twerk) who was already an established artist and making a name for himself in the experimental techno scene in San Francisco and Europe. Motivated by what he saw, and heard in Shawn's studio, Carlos's curiosity about music production grew. "Shawn was definitely a big influence in my music career. He basically took me under his wing and gave me the tools needed to express my music and myself. Before that, the thought had never crossed my mind to produce music". By the end of the millennium Carlos had already built himself a pretty impressive studio. Today Carlos is recognized for his key signature of mixing and programming, as he displays his ability to take you on a journey. From one genre to another he keeps you focused as he drives you deeper and deeper into an abyss of pumpin bass, with layers of harmony and beats that are funky to keep your body moving to his music. As Carlos would say Music is the window to our souls, you can set moods, and take people on a journey through this medium.
